Cookies and Cream
Project: Furniture Collection
For: Pebbles and Twigs
Date: March, 2012
An absolute make-it-work moment, I was invited to exhibit a collection of hand-crafted furniture for the Pebbles and Twigs spring gallery show one month before it opened. Up for the challenge, I immediately devised a suite of high-end original furnishings inspired by modern mid-century flair. For the collection, I built with my favorite over-priced hard woods, Walnut and Maple – a color contrast that influenced the title of the collection – Cookies and Cream.

Client: Craft Lake City ’11
Purpose: Kicking ass
Other: Rocking out
For this year’s annual craft lake city festival, i somewhat miraculously pulled together a series of laser-cut steel baskets inspired by the art of psychedelia and tricky folding. at the festival, a slew of people asked if i’d be selling these products online… for now, i’m very happy to make business transactions via this website and my e-mail.

The Swarm Basket – Version 2.0
Lava Doro / Wipe Here | CLC 2012
Project: Lava Doro – A Handcrafted Walnut Lava Lamp
(Limited Edition of 8)
Shown at: Alpine Art Gallery, Craft Lake City 2012
Date: December, 2012 – Version 1.0
Psychedelia is having a comeback. Or at least I think it should. And what modern psychedelic household is complete without a lava lamp? This update to the classic side-table lava lamp is the nicest you’ve ever seen. Solid walnut, glass, mineral-oil water, and lava. It disassembles to accommodate light bulb replacement, and is a hit with the kids aged 4-12.
Doro is the Japanese suffix for a landscape lantern. A lava is the colloquial name for burning hot magma. Hence, the Lava Doro. Kampai!Project: Handcrafted Walnut Lava Lamp

Project: Wipe Here – Re-usable Organic Cloth Napkins with Cherry Wood Napkin Dispenser
Date: December, 2012 – Version 1.0
Re-usable goods are also having a comeback. The culture of trash needs to change, and this product is an attempt offer an alternative to throw-away napkins. Entitled Wipe Here, the set includes 12 organic cloth napkins that are printed with an info-graphic diagram that helps the users refold napkins once they’ve been washed, and re-insert into a spring-loaded, wooden napkin dispenser. Great for the family. Especially nice as a gift.

The Public-Object Nexus
Project: Industrial Design for Public Spaces | Graduate Project
For: AUT University | Completion Date: August, 2011
Located primarily in urban parks and plazas, this lightweight and durable street furniture piece can be easily moved and flipped allowing residents of the city to create personalized furniture arrangements in public spaces. The movable nature of The Buttress allows for an infinite variety of compositions – only limited by confines of the public space and the imagination of its users. The Buttress is constructed using rotational molding technology with medium density polyethylene, reinforced by two small internal steel profiles, and pigmented in a variety of colors to suit the environment in which they inhabit.
The Hub on the Harbour is a street furniture collection created in response to the sedentary lifestyle that most office workers endure. This collection provides highly functional work stations along public outdoor spaces that temporarily alleviate the routine of a typical office day. The core of this street furniture concept is based on supporting varied upright ergonomic positions for brief work encounters and activity in the outdoors. The hand railing was chosen as the subject of design intervention because, not only does it support altered ergonomic standing positions, railings are also often located at the edge of urban environs where the draw to gather and enjoy a little piece of nature already exists.
