Topo Athletic

TopoFINAL1 Project: Exhibit Design for Outdoor Retailer Show

Client: Topo Athletic Footwear, Atmosphere Studios

Purpose: World Premiere of New International Brand

Date: January, 2013

Inspired by traditional Japanese Tabi footwear, the newly formed Topo Athletic developed a revolutionary split-toed shoe for an active population. For it’s product debut, I designed a contemporary trade show booth housing a variety of custom footwear displays and meeting environments. A palette or lightweight materials, poppy colors, and organic forms was used to reinforce the unique Topo aesthetic. Topo_12bTopoFINAL_2TopoFINAL_3TopoFINAL_4TopoFINAL_5TopoFINAL_Persp2

Ahnu

Client: Ahnu Footwear, Atmosphere Studios

Purpose: New Tradeshow Environment to Accommodate Expanding Brand Presence.

Date: January, 2013

Ahnu is an international footwear brand that deftly combines a rugged mystique with feminine flair – a positioning consistently rewarded with market share growth. This year Ahnu needed a new sales environment at the Outdoor Retailer show that reflected this growth. As the primary big move, I designed for them an undulating wall system that served as grand entrance, graphic backdrop, stylish partition, and storage machine all in one – imparting the functionality that was essential disguised as beautiful design. Chapul

Project: Brand Identity, Packaging Graphics

Date: 2012 – Present

Chapul is a revolutionary company founded on the premise of introducing insects as food to the mainstream market – a formidable task in need of smart branding identity for sure. In close collaboration with Pat Crowely, Chapul’s Visionary-in-Cheif, we created a bold logo backed by subtle illustrative textures and colors to give Chapul’s breakout product, the protein bar, a sophisticated old-world explorer look. More Chapul to come…

Cookies and Cream

Project: Furniture Collection

For: Pebbles and Twigs

Date: March, 2012

An absolute make-it-work moment, I was invited to exhibit a collection of hand-crafted furniture for the Pebbles and Twigs spring gallery show one month before it opened. Up for the challenge, I immediately devised a suite of high-end original furnishings inspired by modern mid-century flair. For the collection, I built with my favorite over-priced hard woods, Walnut and Maple – a color contrast that influenced the title of the collection – Cookies and Cream.

Craft Lake City

Project: Steel Bowls

Client: Craft Lake City ’11

Purpose: Kicking ass

Other: Rocking out

For this year’s annual craft lake city festival, i somewhat miraculously pulled together a series of laser-cut steel baskets inspired by the art of psychedelia and tricky folding. at the festival, a slew of people asked if i’d be selling these products online… for now, i’m very happy to make business transactions via this website and my e-mail.

Project: Design/Layout for 3-day Outdoor Event Installation

Client: Keen Footwear

Date: August, 2012

Keen Footwear, in conjunction with the event production company Imprint Projects, sponsored a free 3-day event for the outdoor industry during the outdoor retailer summer show. They acquired permission to occupy a vacant lot across from the show, and proceeded to plan a party. Enter myself and Atmosphere studios.

Together we devised a site layout and built components speaking to boy-scout encampments and Wes Anderson’s Nostalgia. Final products constructed by myself and Atmosphere Studios included various over-head structural tents and a planted pallet partition wall. Tie-dying Keen t-shirts was an unexpected hit, and my brazilian band also played an afternoon set. (Thanks to Atmosphere and Imprint for photos and good times.)
